Day 26 - Brisbane (Wednesday)

For my 33rd birthday I was in DC. As luck would have it so was my favorite play, Les Miserable, was playing at the Kennedy Center. The final night of this cruise there was a gentleman playing the title theme from LesMis on the piano in the centrum. Last night when walking around Brisbane I saw the iconic face of the play. Could it be playing here? Walk a little further... sure enough, it is.

Odd at first but to get an elevator you put your room key under this little device and it tells the elevator where to take you
No floor numbers here just the information the little keypad thing gave it
Any town that has a food truck that delivers slushee's is ok

Fantastic way to hide solar panels

After watching the show I now know why they sell the show as "Broadway LesMis" or in this case "Australian LesMis". Each show is tweaked for the country it is shown in. In this case the cadence, speed, delivery is more of an 80's sitcom at times. At the big solo points at the end of the show it was comical how they acted yet people were sobbing. Perhaps they think the same if they saw the Broadway version. I'll stick with that version.
View from the theater outlook
15 min before showtime
Post-intermission. Did word get out it's bad?

I walked past a McD while looking for local food and spotted this advertisement so of course I had to stop and try. It was the more interesting option compared to a tattertot bacon burger.
$13 for all this

The South Bank is just so pretty at night that I needed to see it again, this time bringing my good camera.

Little shops like this, with a small sidewalk setup, is very common
I love me some sorbet

So delicious!

This park is an amazing example of mixing public space with condos/shops
Can't swim in the channel thus the public pools. Kids sand pool (0-3 feet deep)
Adults pool (2-5 feet deep)
Poor guy didn't know there was a water art piece as he walked under it

On the way home all the food places around me are closed (most close around 6 here) but 7/11 is open. Like in Hong Kong this is where folks go to get a small bite since meals here are more about small portions but eating more frequently. Pack extra room in your budget if you're wanting to attend Australia. Things really are super expensive.
Interesting Slurpee machine. They have cola but not Coke slurpee
$3 for a 24oz, $3.60 for 32oz
$13.95 for a regular sized Ben and Jerry's

Bags packed and weighed. 1:30am here. Taxi pickup 3:30am. Flight 7am. No sleeping tonight.
